1. Read Haggai 1:1-4. Why do you think the people had stalled their rebuilding of the Temple? What is something in your life that you have been putting off? Why have you been putting it off? Why does God want you to stop putting it off and start making it right?
2. Read Haggai 1:5-6. Have you ever seen your life resemble these two verses? Why do these verses speak to us today just as must as they did to the Israelites thousands of years ago?
3. Read Haggai 1:7-8. Like in these verses with the rebuilding of the Temple, what practical steps do you need to take to start rebuilding or simply building what you have been putting off?
4. Read Haggai 1:9-12. At first these verses might seem harsh. However, how is discipline or the reality of consequences for our inaction (or improper action) a good thing? How can it stir us to do what is right?
Read Haggai 1:13-15. What comfort do you receive in knowing, as this passage says, that God is “with you” as you begin the process of re-building of building something important in your life?
