Proverbs 3:5-6; Matthew 6:33; Matthew 22:37-39; Matthew 7:24-25
1. Read Proverbs 3:5-6. How has culture shaped your view of marriage for good and bad? What do you see as the differences between culture’s view of marriage and the spiritual view of marriage?
2. Read Matthew 6:33 and Matthew 22:37-39. How much of a priority is seeking God together in your marriage? Why? If you are single, how much of a priority is God in seeking your possible future partner? Why?
3. Read Matthew 7:24-25. Pastor Lonnie spoke about the importance of prayer in marriage. What are some of the benefits you’ve experienced of praying with your spouse? If you are not praying with your spouse, what’s preventing you from doing so? How does prayer build that solid foundation that Jesus speaks of in Matthew 7?
If you are married, develop a spiritual plan with your spouse. Meaning, look at the regular week and determine when and how you should pray together, study the Bible together, and worship together. Make it a priority! Put it on your schedule and treat it like you would any other important meeting. Make God the center of your relationship.
