Real Love in a Real World

1 Corinthians 13:4-7; Colossians 3:12-14; Genesis 2:18, 21-25

Reflection Questions

1.    What is your favorite movie about love and/or a wedding? How has culture, including movie culture, influenced your understanding of love and marriage?

2.    If you are single, what do you desire the most out of marriage? If you are married, what do you desire the most out of marriage going forward?

3.    Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. How do Paul’s words about what “love is” challenge and/or convict you and your concept of romantic love? How does this kind of love take effort and dedication? What is the reward of following through in this type dedication for your marriage (and in all other relationships)?

4.    Read Colossians 3:12-14. What do you think it means to “bear with each other” in marriage? How is real love something that requires “doing” and not just “feeling”?

Going Further

As it may be hard to actually create a “mixtape” in 2018, write a love letter (or text or email) to your spouse or partner. Explain to them why you love them and also how you personally plan to love them going forward (remember, not just feelings—but actions!). If you are single, write a love letter to your future spouse, explaining the very same things.
