Kairos Prison Ministry

A Mission Opportunity - Kairos Prison Ministry

Would you like to participate in the upcoming Kairos Walk?

The Kiaros ministry is a prison ministry program which offers the ministry of presence and discipleship to incarcerated adults. Twice each year a team of people from many churches in our area and South Carolina visit the Kershaw Correctional Institution in Kershaw, South Carolina. During their four day stay they visit the prison each day and conduct a spiritual retreat for selected residents.

Why is this important? Because studies show that of the residents released from all prisons which participate, those who joined Kairos are 75% less likely to return to prison.

The Spring Walk will be mid-April and there are many ways to get involved.

There are three ways to participate in this spiritual walk for the residents of a South Carolina prison.

  • Volunteer to bake cookies: Assurance needs 100 dozen cookies. baking guidelines will be available in the Welcome Center at Northlake beginning March 27 (or you can download them here). Cookies need to be returned to the church by noon on Tuesday, April 5.
  • Sign up for the Prayer Vigil: This will give you a designated time to pray for the Kairos team and prison residents attending the walk. Signup sheets will be available on the Welcome Desk at Northlake beginning on Sunday, March 27.
  • Donate funds to support the cost of the walk or support a volunteer who cannot afford the fee: Donations are 100% tax deductible. Checks should be made out to "Kairos of South Carolina" and can be given to Dave Orbaugh or placed in the offering plate.

If you are interested in participating on a walk, contact Dave Orbaugh or call the church office.
